During my internship at Cosy House, I was responsible for enhancing their online presence through effective SEO strategies and web design a dedicated page to showcase their interior design projects.
Overview
- Conducted keyword research and implemented SEO best practices.
- Designed and developed a webpage to display their portfolio of interior design projects.
- Improved website visibility and search engine rankings.
Project Details
- Research: Analyzed competitors and sector standards for SEO using a free version of TalkWalker and web design using the dev tools of Google Chrome.
- Wireframing: Created wireframes for the portfolio page layout using Adobe XD.
- Development: Built the page using WordPress, HTML, CSS, and basic JavaScript.
- SEO Implementation: Optimized meta tags, alt texts, and content for targeted keywords on their main site.
- Tools Used: Google Keyword Planner, TalkWalker, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe XD
- Technologies: HTML, CSS, JavaScript, WordPress
Challenges & Solutions
- Limited resources and time constraints during the internship.
- Balancing aesthetic design with SEO requirements.
- Prioritized high-impact SEO tasks and used efficient coding practices.
Outcome & Reflection
- Despite the unfortunate bankruptcy of Cosy House, the project was successful in improving their online presence and showcasing their work effectively.
- The optimized portfolio page contributed to a temporary increase in website traffic and improved search engine rankings during its active period.
- This project taught me valuable lessons in combining SEO with web design and the importance of adaptability in changing business environments.
- In hindsight, I would have implemented more advanced SEO techniques and responsive design elements to future-proof the page.
- I would have spent more time on designing a prototype before starting with development as well, with the limited resources that were then available.
